During my time in patrol, I was active in drug enforcement and made several controlled substance arrests. Sheriff Peterson assigned me to the Minnesota River Valley Drug Task Force in January of 2005. I worked as an agent with the task force until early 2006, when I returned to patrol.
In May of 2007, I was promoted to Lieutenant after less than five years with the department. My supervision style is to lead by example and work alongside the men and women I supervise. Most of the deputies I supervised were older than me and had been with the Sheriff’s Office longer; however, I quickly earned their respect as a supervisor. During my eight years as a patrol lieutenant, I was a firearms instructor, rangemaster, policy administrator, conducted pre- employment background investigations and internal affairs investigations.
In September of 2015, I was assigned as the Commander of the Minnesota River Valley Drug Task Force. The task force is a multi-jurisdictional team of investigators serving the Counties of Blue Earth, Nicollet, Watonwan, and Martin. As Task Force Commander, my duties include supervising and leading my agents in proactive mid to upper-level controlled substance investigations, violent crime investigations, and drug overdose death investigations.
In my position as Commander, I have conducted numerous trainings and presentations for community groups, businesses, students, and several other organizations on current drug trends and violent crime in the area. I am also responsible for the task force budget, including applying for and managing grants from the Office of Justice Programs.
As your Blue Earth County Sheriff, I promise to continue making public safety a priority and maintain the positive relationship our deputies have with the residents of Blue Earth County that you have come to expect. It would be my privilege to be your Sheriff. Thank you.
